What does the Vineyard believe about Baptism?
The first story in the Bible about Jesus as an adult is His baptism. The last thing Jesus said to His disciples before ascending into heaven was that they should go throughout the world making disciples and baptizing them. Baptism is obviously a very important activity in the New Testament. Baptism is also a subject that Christians don’t all agree about. Here at the Vineyard, we view it as a secondary issue, allowing some room for disagreement between sincere believers. We have, nonetheless, tried to be faithful to the Bible and faithful to what the church has done historically. Click here for answers to frequently asked questions about baptism.
What about baby baptism?
Here at Vineyard we offer baby dedication instead of baptism. Baptism is symbol that an individual has chosen to become a follower of Christ and make him the Lord of his life. In order to be baptized, a person must be at least six years of age and have made a personal choice to follow Christ.
How do we get married at Vineyard?
In order to give you the best chance at making your marriage last, we've got a couple of requirements:
1) In order to be married at the Vineyard or by a Vineyard pastor, you must complete our pre-marital training class, Partners for Life. Classes are offered 4-5 times per year; please give yourselves plenty of time to complete this 7-week class before your wedding!
2) If you have been previously married, we also require that you take Divorce Care. Here at the Vineyard, we do not believe that divorce disqualifies you from the goodness of God in your life! However, we want to make sure that you have found healing from your previous relationships. These 13-week classes are offered twice a year beginning in late January/early February and again in September.
For complete details, pick up a wedding packet in the Lobby at the info desk all prices and requirements are listed there. Completed wedding information forms should be turned in to the Wedding Corodinator at the church office.
How do I become a member?
Vineyard 101, our membership class, is the next step to getting involved, providing an overview of our mission, vision and values.
What about tithing?
Money. Few topics cause more anxiety stress and discomfort. And yet the Bible is full of references to money an giving. As a matter of fact, there are more promises in the Bible connected with giving than any other subject! Clearly, money is a powerful force in our lives and needs to be under God’s control. As Christians (those who have made a lifetime commitment to follow Jesus Christ) the cornerstone of our financial discipleship is understanding the tithe. Click here for more info.
